• 11 February 2009: CHEVROLET STING RAY CONCEPT: Chevrolet introduced for the first time ever… a new automotive super-star… the Chevrolet Sting Ray concept at the’09 Chicago Auto Show. General Motors Vice Pres., Design Ed Welburn, unveiled the Sting Ray concept, which pays homage to the 1959 Sting Ray Racer and 1963 Corvette Sting Ray Split-Window Coupe. Notice the wide shoulders, sculpted fender forms, side air extractors, piercing nose, and of course, the legendary Split-Window design feature. There’s even a modern interpretation of the Sting Ray badge and some interesting aircraft-inspired features at the back. This futuristic vision of an American performance icon plays the role of “Sideswipe” in the upcoming film Transformers II: Revenge of the Fallen.
• 12 February 2015: 2016 BUICK AVENIR: A spectacular Buick concept will be on review for the first time at a Chicago Auto Show, Feb. 14-22, 2015. Buick calls the prototype, “Avenir,” which is French for future. The Avenir serves as a test vehicle to explore new styling and advanced technology that may transfer to future production models. More than 100 designers, sculptors and fabricators at GM’s design studio near Melbourne, in Australia, and Buick’s North American design center, in Warren, Mich., contributed to the project. Avenir’s classic rear-wheel drive proportion and exterior design theme include Buick’s signature sweep-spear body side motif, taught lines, a long hood, short overhangs, wheels-at-the-corners stance, and a nod to the “boattail” styling of the 1971-73 Rivera. A striking new grille design features a large opening accented by a return to the three-color – red, silver and blue – Buick tri-shield insignia, accented by wing-shaped elements. The grille is flanked by bold headlamps featuring full LED lighting. Avenir’s sophisticated color palette, including a crystalline exterior color and strained use of bright work accent the Avenir’s body lines. Within the personal four-passenger cabin there is a color palette of light and natural tones blended with oiled and buffed wood trim and Galvano satin-chrome accents. There are driver-recognition features that automatically sync infotainment preferences and Buick IntelliLink with large, 12-inch diagonal color touch screen. Keeping the interior fresh is an ionic air filtration system. Suggested powertrain consists of the next-generation direct-injected V-6 engine with fuel-saving active fuel management that deactivates cylinders when not need, stop/start technology, and nine-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission. A twin-clutch all-wheel drive system is featured, as is driver-selectable suspension. This is a must see concept car at the 107th annual Chicago Auto Show.
HYUNDAI VELOSTER C3 ROLL TOP CONCEPT: Be among the first to see the wild Hyundai Veloster C3 Roll Top concept car during the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. Created by Hyundai Design North America team, the prototype styling cues are influenced by the colorful minimalist single speed bikes. These fixed gear bikes, or "fixies," are half built by the customer and the other half by the manufacture. So, based on the 2013 Hyundai Veloster's three-door coupe, the C3 (Convertible 3-door) takes the trendy theme into the automotive worked. The cleverly designed dual-function power-retractable canvas roof combined with the tailgate gives the C3 a dual personality. In convertible mode with the top rolled back, the C3 is a free spirit for driving along Chicago's Lake Shore Drive in August. Roll the top forward, open the tailgate, fold the rear seats and the C3 goes into recreation mode - perfect for biking, photographing or camping. Visually striking in high gloss white painted exterior, the C3 is contrasted by a flat black spoiler, glass close out, convertible top rails, rear reflector bezels, license plate pocket and badge. Upfront flat red mirror housings offset the flat black front wheels, fog lamp bezels, front grille and badging. Flat teal rear wheels, red reflectors and smoked taillights complete the look. This dream machine, so says Hyundai PR, was inspired by the proverb 'A rolling stone gathers no moss," and with its 1.6 liter GDI four-cylinder engine with twin-scroll turbocharger and 201 horsepower, neither will the Veloster C3 Roll Top.

 • 08 February 2013: 2013 Ford Atlas Concept pickup truck. Chicago Auto Show, Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA), McCormick Place, Chicago Illinois

FORD ATLAS CONCEPT: Calling all truck fans! If you want a glimpse at the future of Ford pickups, make sure to attend the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Feb. 9th to Feb. 18th. On display in full glory is the Ford Atlas concept that's a rolling showcase of features that will allow pickup truck owners to work and play smarter, not harder. First off, the prototype is 238 inches in length, with a 150 in wheelbase, which are close to the dimensions of the 2013 Ford F-Series SuperCab. The handsome Atlas concept's body is constructive of high-strength steel including boron, and the exterior shape is the results of a purpose-driven design. Note the chiseled grille that uses active grille shutters to improve aerodynamics to save gas; plus the prominent wheel arches and wide stance. The 22-in alloy wheels are framed by all-terrain tires. Examples that the Atlas was inspired by Ford listening to customers at the places they work and play, are the added multiple tie-down points integrated within the cargo box walls and load floor, along with 110-volt electrical outlets in the cargo box to charge power tools. An integrated roof carrying system and hidden extendable ramps give the truck unique functionality for a variety of jobs. The tailgate step turns into cargo cradle to carry long items. Move inside the cabin and notice the ergonomic "bullring" steering wheel, "floating" instrument pods, glove-friendly buttons and controls, and thin, lightweight leather seating that allows for extra rear passenger legroom. Ford said that a next-generation EcoBoost engine with auto start-stop powers the mighty Atlas, connected with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
