It was built over Big Raccoon Creek in Bridgeton in 2006 to replace an original bridge which was destroyed by arson in 2005.  It was completely rebuilt private funds. The bridge has a 245' span.  The original bridge was built in 1868 by J.J. Daniels and was 261' in length.<br />
<br />
Bridgeton Mill is thought to be the 2nd oldest continuously private operated mill in the United States.  The mill was built 1823 and rebuilt in 1870.  The mills foundation is actually part of the dam, the water fall is 200' wide.  The mill currently offers cornbread, pancake miss and other 100% stone ground products.<br />

  • 2015 Oct 19:   Parke County Indiana is the site of the Indiana Covered Bridge Festival every October.  This is the State Sanatorium Bridge.  It was Originally built on by J A Britton. It was relocated from private property and restored in 2009.  It now rests on County Road 100N over the Little Raccoon Creek.The bridge has a 154' span and is painted white.<br />
