Asahel Gridley - a banker, politician, lawyer and McLean Counties first millionaire.  He once hired Abraham Lincoln to defend him on charges of slander.  Lincoln and Gridley won the case.  The town of Gridley in Northern McLean County is named after Asahel Gridley.
