26 August 2016: Carved Airplane Memorial in Evergreen Cemetary This sculpture by Tom Gill was carved from the tree which it now rests. It memorializes a plane crash in 1948 in which a world war II plane was flying low and slow over the cemetery to drop poppies. That plane crashed into a tall oak tree. The carving was completed and erected in September of 2015.
