08 February 2012: 2012 SMART ForTwo Passion Cabriolet: Designed and engineered by Mercedes-Benz, the 2012 Smart ForTwo is the ultimate expression of efficiency through design and innovation. Available in three gasoline-powered models, as well as the fully-electric ForTwo, the Smart provides a solution for environmental efficiency including conservation of material, space and natural resources. Trim levels include the Pure Coupe, Passion Coupe, Passion Cabriolet and Electric Drive model. Powering the 1,808 lb automobile is a one-liter, in-line three-cylinder gasoline engine that creates 70 horsepower and 68 lb. Ft. of torque to the rear-wheels. The Electric Drive uses a 51-kW electric motor with lithium-ion battery that generates 41 hp. All Smart ForTwos come mated to a five-speed smartshift transmission with automatic (for ease) and manual (for fun) modes. Cargo room for the two-seater is a surprising 12. cu. ft.
