08 February 2012: 2012 BMW Z4 ROADSTER: The classic roadster is back – more powerful and more stylish than ever before, and on display at the 104th Annual Chicago Auto Show. If you guessed the 2012 BMW Z4, you’re correct. Notably, it is the only car in its segment that combines classic roadster proportions with a seating position near the rear axle, rear-wheel drive, and a retractable hardtop. Starting this model year, the BMW Z4 is offered in the US with one newly introduced 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder in the Z4 sDrive28i that delivers 335 horsepower and 332 lb. ft. of torque. To ensure truly outstanding acceleration and response at all times, there are two versions of the twin-turbo 3.0L inline six-cylinder engines – 300hp/300lb.ft in the Z4 sDrive35i and 335hp/332lb.ft. of torque in the sDrive35is. Depending on the powerplant, a six-speed manual gearbox and seven- or eight-speed automatic transmissions are to be had. All Z4 models enjoy a two-place cockpit and power-retractable hardtop standard. Minor tweaks for 2012 include making the automatic transmission a no-charge option on the 30i, and the Double Clutch Transmission price has been lowered on the 35i. Chicago Auto Show, Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA), McCormick Place, Chicago Illinois
