08 February 2012: 1953 and 2013 Chevrolet Corvette...2012 CHEVROLET CORVETTE: Chevrolet again elevates Corvette's performance capabilities, with a series of improvements for the 2012 model year. They include enhancements to the high-performance Z06, Z06 Carbon and ZR1 coupe models as well as interior upgrades to base Corvette and Grand Sport lineups. Two body styles, the hatchback coupe with removable roof and the soft top convertible are available with Corvette and Corvette Grand Sport. This year, Chevrolet celebrates its performance heritage with the release of the 2012 Centennial Edition Corvette package, featuring a sleek black color scheme and unique design elements. It's offered on all Corvette models. The Corvette and Grand Sport are powered by the 430-horsepower 6.2-liter V8, (436 hp with optional exhaust) while the racing-inspired Corvette Z06 is equipped with the 505-hp LS7 (7.0-liter ) engine. The Corvette ZR1 is powered by a 638 hp, supercharged LS9 6.2-liter V8, and is the fastest, most powerful car ever offered by Chevrolet. Two transmissions available include the short-throw, six-speed manual or the six-speed paddle shift with automatic modes. New exterior paints include Carlisle Blue Metallic and Carbon Flash Metallic, and customers can select brake caliper color in red, yellow, silver or gray.
