12 February 2015: 2015 SUBARU OUTBACK: As a midsize crossover SUV, the 2015 Subaru Outback is the roomiest, most capable and highest fuel-efficiency model in the vehicle’s 20-year history. Available in the 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited editions, each Outback is a five-passenger vehicle with standard-equipped symmetrical all-wheel drive. The 2.5i four-cylinder horizontally opposed (Boxer) engine develops 175-horsepower, and comes with standard Active Grille Shutter system that helps to improve fuel economy by reducing wind resistance. For increased performance, the 3.6R horizontally opposed (Boxer) six-cylinder engine offers 256-hp. Standard on Outback models is the CVT (continuously variable transmission) featuring steering wheel paddle switches for six-speed step shifting. Added as standard for 2015 are X-Mode, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist augment symmetrical AWD to assist the driver in navigating rough roads, slippery surfaces or steep inclines. While maintaining a similar footprint as the model it replaces, the vehicle has increase passenger volume and cargo capacity. With the standard 60/40 split rear seatbacks folded, there is a maximum 71.3 cu. ft. of open cargo room. The 2015 Outback offers significantly improved infotainment system that includes a 6.2” high resolution single-touch screen display, Subaru STARLINK, AM/FM Stereo HD Radio with single-disc CD Player, Aha and Pandora, Bluetooth audio-streaming and hands-free phone connectivity, Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS), iPod Control and iTunes Tagging capabilities, USB Port, auxiliary input jack, four-speakers, and a rear glass audio antenna. Added safety comes from the rear-view camera that is standard equipped on all models. The new Outback is built at Subaru of Indiana Automotive (SIA) zero-landfill production plants.
