12 February 2015: 2015 PORSCHE PANAMERA E-HYBRID: On display at the 107th annual Chicago Auto Show, Feb.14-22, 2015, is the new Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid. This is Porsche’s parallel plug-in hybrid, which means it can be powered by the combustion engine alone, by the electric machine alone or by both units together. For 2015, the Panamera S E-Hybrid improves upon the previous Panamera S Hybrid. A more powerful electric motor is combined with a higher-performance battery supplies more energy and is able to be recharged from home or public vehicle charging stations. The electric drive produces 95-horsepower, more than double the power of the previous model’s electric motor (47-hp). Combined with the 333-horsepower 3.0-liter supercharged V-6, there is a total of 416-hp available to accelerate the Panamera E-Hybrid from 0-to-60 mph in 5.2 seconds. Top track speed is 167-mph. Electricty is stored in a newly developed lithium-ion battery, which at 9.4 kWh has increased capacity over the previous battery (1.7 kWh). Via the integrated on-board charging componentry and the standard Porsche Universal Charger (AC), the battery can reach full charge within approximately two and a half hours when connected to a 240V power source. The multifunction steering wheel is standard in all models and features two ergonomic gearshift switches for manual gear selection and offers convenient control of audio, telephone and navigation functions as well as the on-board computer. A total of 15 exterior colors are available, include shades called Carmine Red, Amethyst metallic and Yachting Blue metallic. Pricing for the Panamera E-Hybrid begins at $99,000.

First staged in 1901, the Chicago Auto Show is the largest auto show in North America and has been held more times than any other auto exposition on the continent. The 2015 show marks the 107th edition of the Chicago Auto Show. It has been presented by the Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA) since 1935. It is held at McCormi
